Housebreaking for your DOG

Bookmark and Share

Housebreaking is a term to train a dog to defecate outdoors or a place that has been provided, in other words, not indiscriminate pooping in the house. Housebreaking is the first thing to teach your dog. In general, dogs can’t control the bladder and intestines of up to 12 weeks. If your dog younger than that, it takes extra patience to teach him.

The first thing is, make a schedule for housebreaking your dog. Try to wake up every morning at the same time, take your dog out of the house. You can eat at the same time for a few days and immediately take it out as soon as he finished eating.

Next, try to notice signs such as sniffing, swirling and fro on your dog. This habit, it could mean the dog was wanted pooping. When you see the sign - the sign, immediately take your dog out. But if you find him pooping, say "No" firmly and immediately take it out, so that your dog can continue. Give praise when he has to finish outside. Never punish your dog by hitting or other abusive things because this will only teach them to fear you.

If you find the dog poop in the house, but did not see when he did it, do not punish him, because he can n’t associate the punishment acquired by the action that has been done, there would only make him confused.

Furthermore, chose a word for this activity, such as "Out" or "Pee outside", use this word consistently, so that your dog will learn that word as a command. Always take your dog to the same place outside the home, when willing to pee / poop. The smell of the place will encourage him to pee / poop in that place again, and if he does, give him praise.

Buy a bigger cage to place your dog grows, but place a separator inside until enough for your dog to turn around and lie down. Instinctively, the dogs will not be willing to dirty his place. Be careful not to let the dog in the cage more than 4-6 hours, or he may have no choice but to pee / poop in place themselves. If you are often not at home such as work, then go home at noon to let the dogs out, or ask someone else to remove your dog, if you are not able to go home.

In essence, some things to consider when doing this activity. Praise your dog when it was completed pooping outside. Use the same command to ask him to defecate outside. Do not punish him with physical contact. Do not reprimand him when they found feces. Most importantly, all of the learning process that takes time, so be patient and do not despair.
